Windows 95 and 98 are first class

Ken, I agree with with your post 100% except for the above.

As compared to what?.........my point exactly!

Microsoft may be a good investment but anyone who thinks it produces world class products surely have been deceived by the "we must be free to innovate" PR machine.

It's the nature of monopolies in general and this one in particular NOT to innovate. There is no reason to, there is no pressure to. I'm certainly no techie but I've researched enough and read enough from both sides of the fence to believe that Windows is certainly not the OS is could or should be. Only a monopoly could get away with charging $90 for Win 98 which is essentialy a group of patches and IE4 , which was free before. Very little new content. There is no incentive for any start-up to to develop a better mousetrap knowing there is a billion dollar war chest poised to crush them.

I'm researching alternative OS's now for my business machine, I'd like to have a Microsoft free machine too. I'm stuck though on my family machine as games and such all require Win 95.

I too am impressed so far with Navigator 4.5, at least these guys are still fighting the good fight.

Good luck to all -
