Paul,

RE: Yep - it's a tough year, alright.

There is no doubt that Intel is outperforming every other semiconductor company on the planet on a financial basis. That being said, their six month YOY "accounting earnings" have gone from $3.6 to $2.4 which represents a decline of 33%. This is not stellar performance from an objective standpoint.

Have you noticed that Microsoft is making more than Intel now from an accounting earnings view and A LOT more from a cash flow perspective? MSFT's market cap is now about twice as large as INTC's and their cash hoard is approaching twice that of Intel's.

Nobody knows when Intel earnings will reach 1997 levels again.

Bob

Paul,

Unfortunately for INTC investors, changes in stock valuation are based on earnings growth, rather than absolute earnings. The fact that Intel is still making money is of zero value to investors.
