Jeffrey: Welcome to the thread. There should be a special toast employed whenever a lurker surfaces as a participant. Further, I appreciate the compliment, though undeserved. I would add only one proviso to your candid and, truth be told, rather refreshing remarks. The avowed fact that you derive solid entertainment value from the Brinker thread is likely not lost upon many of us contributors here who doubtless prefer the identity of wit over dolt, wag over dullard. Indeed, the good fellows and ladies of this thread have, with rare exceptions, distinguished them- selves as very capable writers with often extraordinary analytical skills, extensive knowledge, powerful recall, and whirling comedic creativity withal. We are all justly proud of our thread. It is for this latter that more than a few of us may lament any circumstance where debate becomes dispute becomes feud becomes brawl. As much as there may have been a measure of entertainment value in watching gladiators devoured by lions or a twentieth century Mike Tyson snacking on the ear of his opponent, the problem for a thread such as this is that the best are often chased away by the worst, should the worst become the norm.

Obviously, I'm not the thread police. I believe that debate and disagreement are healthy and useful. I certainly have no desire to persuade either Justa or Rillinois to stop posting to this thread in general. I was just expressing my frustration because it seemed that the argument had escalated to the level of "nuclear meltdown".
