>>I totally disagree with your statement "each user uses 6-10 disks and stops." .... I myself have 8 zip drives...<<<

You are making a classic mistake. You seem very intent on using a Zip. Your circle of friends and family seem to share your passion. But do not make the tragic mistake of believing that most people think and act as you do. Most people do not own 8 Zip drives.

In fact, it is people like you that confirm my belief that Zip penetration is much lower than what people here would like to believe. You, one person, have consumed 8 Zip drives.

You have bought numerous Zip discs. But I have a friend who has bought only one. Am I making the mistake of thinking that this is how everyone with a Zip drive behaves? No. The truth is somewhere in between. But Iomega refuses to release the tie ratios, because they are falling fast.

Zip drive unit installed base has risen 114% since 7/97
Zip disc unit sales have only risen 44% since 7/97

Zip discs are not keeping up with Zip drives, and the tie ratio is falling.
