Janice,

<Why do they find diversity of opinion so threatening? I'm always interested in hearing the other side of the argument. I thought that was normal, but perhaps I'm wrong...

Janice>

Its' not the diversity of opinion, its' the idiot posts. Its' the posts that are for starting a fight and nothing else. Yes, you will have those that use it to block anything that they do not want to hear, but, isn't that there "RIGHT", to make that decision for themselves. Are we not doing a dis-service to freedoms by only allowing what "WE" feel is right. An example, I feel that the button is wrong because I want to read everything / What, you don't want to read everything? To bad, I think that you should so I will fight to make you have to go through every post and decide on every post, because I think that is the only right way to do it. Again this is only an example and not directed at you or written as if it was you, it is only an example from a con-button person.
Anyway, have a great day and I am out of here...

Janice no one minds diversity of opinion, the more pieces of a puzzle you see the easier it is to figure the answer to the puzzle. The reason you and your friends are not appreciated is because you do not bring a diverse opinion, a knowledgeable insight that others don't have, you could seek the answers to the questions you ask all by yourself and post those awnsers but you choose not to. The only reasons I can see for this are you are either to lazy to do your own dd, you do not care about the answers only the question which you and your friends will ask incessantly over and over or you are a professional shorter and still don't care about the answers but only care about creating uncertainty.

Is it really a humanitarian effort on the part of you and you friends to help the poor little guy or an all to transparent ruse to create fear uncertainty and doubt in the minds of the very same people you claim to want to save?

Janice, I think you are making a big assumption here...

Perhaps, it is not that some folks want to ignore "anyone whose views do not accord perfectly with their own." Perhaps, it is not that "they find diversity of opinion threatening." Perhaps, it is not that at all.

Perhaps, just perhaps, it is because they want a way to weed out posters that have little to offer but inane questions that have been answered a number of times already. Perhaps, they want a way to weed out the posters that commonly state lies, half truths and twisted facts to support their viewpoint.

You see, there are posters that irritate (me) AND do not offer a different opinion or they offer one not founded in reality.

Tell me the truth Janice... do you purposely seek out those that only seem to want to be spoon fed answers to their questions... answers that are never good enough? Do you purposely seek out those who wish to deceive you? Or do you try and avoid people like that?

I certainly try and avoid them and I don't find that horrifying at all.
