OT: Greek and a Science Officer's Obsession with precision,

First, the science officer has been quietly lurking for quite some time but simply must comment on today's most fascinating discussion concerning Greek:

First, you can only appreciate the warmth any such discussion brings to an ancient languages oriented Vulcan heart such as mine by imagining most people could not care less about or value in the slightest the very things that mean the most to you. If only, if only I had a nickel for every "Greek is greek to me... " that I've heard - Well, let's just say that if I put all those nickels into DGIV
I'd soon be quitting my day job (no offense Turboe).

Second, being a Vulcan and the science officer, it is my duty to calculate to the farthest decimal place, to guess more precisely than most people calculate, to annoy with excruciating detail, so:

Janice's confession of limited Greek knowledge can be no better documented than pointing out that today's lesson was decidedly incorrect.

topos is a masculine noun (ho topos). It is a place or spot (in English a topos is a rhetorical "commonplace"), which in fact does become plural as topoi (hoi topoi).

However, kudos is a neuter noun (to kudos) of a different declension and becomes plural instead as kude (read the final "e" as eta, long "a" sound, thus ta kude).

Bonus: The equivalent of kudos in Latin is also neuter, decus, pl. decora.

Just lurking, waiting for the blooming of our DGIV flower.
