If you cannot beat 'em join 'em Part II. As I mentioned weeks ago, I closed my miniscule short. My "religious" principles did not want to do battle anymore with the greased palms of Wall Street. In fact, I was wanting to buy the July 120 calls on AOL back when they were 1 1/2 (I did a printout of the options screen that day which I haver before me), but went on vacation and almost died when I saw AMZN up 15 on the day (I have decent size short on that one). Mind you, I still see AOL as one big scam, but when the "game" will end I do not know. One is foolish to fight the entire Street. Although I missed the last call opportunity, I am pretty sure that I will be buying the August say 135's on Monday to take me through the, undoubtedly "stellar" earnings and predictable stock split. I usually do not like to waste money on option premia via either puts or calls, but as AOL about 300% overvalued, I do not want to risk a straight long position. Sam, congratulations, you are a smart and witty adversary and you won. However, I must believe that you are too smart to really believe this aura surrounding AOL. (Don't bother to comment.) Rather, I think that your own self-interest motivates your opinions on the company. Furthermore, I think that you ought to admit that you really boil down to a momo player. People who claim that they will be getting out at just the right time before a big fall, are momo players. Mind you, I don't blame you. The momo players are making all the money and the value boys are dug into small caps that are either stuck in neutral or going in reverse. The hard part for me in becoming a momo boy, other than the fact that I have no confidence in my ability to get out "in time", is that is further exacerbates the inefficiency in the markets. As a former finance prof, it bothers me somewhat to become part of the problem. But, the credo of the day, as taught by the luminaries of AOL, et al., is money before principles. So, I must adapt or die. Any suggestion of when to initiate my call position? Thanks to the Winner and Still Champion, SAM the MAN.
