what is the difference between "authorising $3bil shares" and announcing a stock split. You have to have enough authorized shares before a split (or stock dividend) is contemplated. Authorized shares: the total number of shares that are allowed to be issued. Stock split: The action of issuing additional shares to shareholders. (of course within the perimiter of the total authorized shares) Hope that helps. HOPING THERE IS NO SPLIT AT THIS TIME. LIKE MOHAN SAID: "don't use the ace trump card now".
