Perhaps Motorola should buy out AMD and take on Intel ! ! !

I don't think so, because a pending announcement like that probably would have leaked. But you never know and AMD has to take some sort of significant action. I sold some of my INTC this morning. I'll buy it back after the AMD/MOT announcement.

Bruce - Re: "Perhaps Motorola should buy out AMD and take on Intel ! ! !"

Motorola already took on Intel with the 68000, 68010, 68020, 68030, 68040, 68060 and various PowerPC chips.

Motorola lost.

Motorola is now a customer of Intels - buying mobile Pentium II modules for embedded processor applications,

Paul

Bruce, >>>"Perhaps Motorola should buy out AMD and take on Intel ! !"

Maybe they should. Maybe they'll have better luck this time if they get close to Intel. Did you know that Motorola had:

- a seventeen year headstart on Intel in semiconductors.

- a decade headstart on Intel in integrated circuits.

- the #1 position in the world for a while in semiconductors in the 1980's.

They should give it a go again. It's getting boring with Intel at the top for so long now.
