Paul Engel, re<As you should know, Gene, one of Intel's strengths is to add newer, higher performance devices at the HIGH END of the ASP spectrum while dropping ASPs on older, slower processors - with an increase in volume due to pricing elasticity, and thereby maintain - and slightly increase - overall ASPs.>

Very true.
But I think the difference is that Intel is adding newer, lower performance products at lower ASP's in response to the changing market. And I guess they recognize that need through their new "segmentation" policy. The fact that Celeron is reported to be priced under $100 list so soon after intro makes me wonder. And as you know, MFC pricing is considerably under list. Almost look's like Celeron is trying to go down the learning curve faster than K6-2. The real key to me will be the price/performance of Mendocino and maker/customer acceptance. And it would be nice if they could create a new product family name for Mendocino. Celeron has too much baggage attached, IMO.
