Patrick,

The trading pattern of the past 2 days is continueing. Anytime a bid of 10K shares or greater is put on the board it is immediately filled. 80% of block trades are at or below the bid. Given that LSI has been in a basing pattern for so long, selling at the lower end of this range is not a good thing.

I saw these signs on Wed when LSI was the last to move up and encountered heavy selling even when demand was strong. It just couldn't make any headway in a strong market. I ignored it because like everyone hear I wanted to believe next weeks call would be positive and then "the truth would set us free". But the consistency of this trend is suggesting to me that the expected strong second half will be delayed until first half 1998 when gsm and playstation 2 pickup what dvd and dcam could not (I am sure you saw cubes report and their comments regarding dvd). If they can delay the opening of the fab until Q1 99 and continue to capitalize those startup costs, earnings will be OK. I just don't know how that scenario would play out for the stock price. If the symbios deal could be positioned as a strong positive and they could convince people that the new products will finally fill the new capacity in q199, then we could stay in this range. If they don't come across as absolutely sure that that can happen, then 20 it is IMO.

I'll let you know if I see the selling stop, but right now I see no signs of it. If who ever is so anxious to get out would finish his business we still could get a little runnup heading into next Thursday, but right now that doesn't look so promising

Have you taken a look at Qlogic today? QLGC +13 3/4 !! WOW, shows you what a good earnings report can do even for a SEMI stock.

Patrick,

No sign of light into the close...all large bids continue to be quickly filled
