Uh, my Bible(The New American Bible), which of course is more accurate than yours, says this for Deut. 20,10: "When you march up to a city, first offer it terms of peace. If it agrees to your terms of peace and opens it's gates to you, all the people to be found in it shall serve you in forced labor. But if it refuses to make peace with you and instead offers you battle, lay siege to it..." Yours says the same thing, but is the sanitized version. Nice choice. Be my slave, or your dead.
