jim, if the Buffetts are related I may have to reconsider my otherwise dormant metaphysical leanings. What a gene pool!
So you're a TLAB lurker--you devil. My only concern there is that I figure with those margins the company may be in the telecom equipment business as kind of a front for a less savory and less publicized line of business. Can that kind of money be made legally? More seriously, I do appreciate the difficulty of shoveling money at these things that have gone into orbit. Hell, I was worried buying the damn thing in the mid 40's cuz it was too expensive. I assuaged my anxiety by getting Doug to come along for the ride as a result of which he has offered me an all expense paid trip on his boat to one of those god-forsaken islands that the Q is wiring up. Go figure. [That last is a shocking lie; Doug actually persuaded me in return to invest in a company the technology of which I can't even pronounce but which promptly hopped on TLAB's coattails and both are now trading at multiples that my former business school professors would consider profane]. So what's an investor to do?
Trade rumors and gossip their bim-bims off, naturally. So here it is: Surfer Mike's stock of the week, hot tip, straight from the shoe shine boy's stand, can't lose, complete with yet another money back guarantee from Maurice (which however is payable only in Kiwi fruit cum sheep dippings): Winstar. Check it out dude. WCII on your friendly monitor. It's a little like Loral, i.e., an EBITDA story currently. Earnings are reported in parentheses at present which I never exactly figured out--must mean they're very important or something. Anyway these guys have got enough spectrum to choke a horse and they didn't pay diddily squat for it. Intend to stick a dish on the roof of every man, woman, and child in the universe and blast bandwidth at 'em till the cows come home. BA Robby Stevens and the CS First Boston telecom analysts have very decent write-ups on Winstar. Plus no worries about buying at high PE's cause they don't have any E!!!!!! I mean is that cool or what? So don't fret with your capital allocation issues; bring your problems to Surfer Mike and, presto, no worries mate. Isn't it the weekend? :) SM
