perhaps the guy is a modest dude ?
and perhaps he wants to make sure his site is fast on slow old machines and then it will scream on a new machine with high bandwidth ?

I happen to read that article in time about Yahoo. And I impressed by one thing: one of the CEO
of yahoo still use an old machine and the reason for not upgrade is "upgrade is a pain".

Yup. Upgrade IS a pain. For internet surfing, you need a fast modem, not a fast computer. Once you experience surfing via a Cable Modem, you'll never go back to 28.8 again!
