the lehman downgrade is interesting in that it seeks to value xcit on usage, number of viewers, or something like that... instead of ad revenues. what imho is interesting is that this is but one way to value these stocks. until there is some consensus in the investment community on a uniform methodology for valuing them, analyses based on usage is no more valid than one based on revenue. who knows? that's what's fun about these stocks, and why my retirement money comes nowhere near them. well not quite nowhere. also think about e commerce: who controls the gateways? the big portals. as e commerce expands, the portals will be like online malls. you have to go to the mall to get to the stores. boutiques will always coexist, but the main portals stand to get a piece of the e commerce wherever and however it goes. and how then do you value these stocks based on potential e commerce? like a national shopping mall? fwiw.
