If I am not mistaken you have to be a holder of record on the record date and the ex-dividend date follows, the money has to be in the account as of the record date to receive the dividend. So if you buy up to that date and the money is in your account to pay for the shares you should be eligible for the dividend. I would advise all investors if at all possible double check the information ( check with a principal at the brokerage firm you deal with they should be able to give insight to the workings of it).
