Just so we don't forget that there are competitors (big and small), here's a snippet from a Raytheon news release earlier this year. Note that while a $3 million Y2K contract is big to TAVA, it is practically "rounding error" to Raytheon amidst their large capital project work, thus the reason Y2K engagements aren't headline PR material for a company like Raytheon. Also, an associate of mine who services the pulp and paper industry has indicated that Raytheon has been awarded a great deal of Y2K work in this segment.

RAYTHEON AWARDED ENGINEERING AND
CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS WORTH $700 MILLION
LEXINGTON, Mass. (Jan. 22, 1998) -- Raytheon Engineers & Constructors announced today that it has received awards worth $700 million for major power, oil and gas, and petrochemical projects in Europe, the Middle East, and the United States, as well as various smaller petrochemical and industrial projects in Latin America, Europe, and the U.S.

The projects include:

-- An award from Entergy Power Group to a Raytheon-Mitsubishi consortium for a 1,200 megawatt gas-fired power plant to be built at the British Petroleum (BP) Chemicals complex in Hull, England. Raytheon will provide engineering, procurement, construction, start-up, and commissioning services. Mitsubishi will supply gas turbines, heat recovery steam generators, and steam turbines.

-- An award from the Norwegian State Owned Oil Company (Statoil) to upgrade and expand Statoil's on-shore oil and gas treatment facilities. Raytheon will perform engineering, procurement, and construction on a turnkey basis to upgrade the crude oil unit and build a natural gas liquids fractionation facility at Statoil's Mongstad, Norway refinery.

-- An award for a sour gas processing plant in the United States for Louisiana Land & Exploration, a wholly owned subsidiary of Burlington Resources. Raytheon's contract includes turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction services for the facility, which will be built in Lost Cabin, Wyo.

-- An award from Norsk Hydro for new crude-oil processing facilities in Sture, Norway. Raytheon will provide turnkey engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning services for facilities that will process crude oil to certain specifications and separate various petroleum-based products.

-- An award from the Saudi Petrochemical Company (SADAF) to upgrade an ethylbenzene/styrene monomer production facility in Al-Jubail, Saudi Arabia. Raytheon will provide turnkey engineering, procurement, construction, and start-up services, as well as proprietary ethylbenzene technology.

-- Awards for engineering services for new or expanded chemical facilities, including assignments in Mexico, The Netherlands, and the U.S., plus computer consulting services on year 2000 issues for a major U.S. food company.
