Tomato Hornworms...

John,

Aren't they just the nicest things in the world? They sure can do a number on the tomato plants in short order too. I don't know about others on the thread, but I usually airlift the hornworms off the plants and deliver them to the barnyard while shouting "COME AND GET IT!!!" to the chickens... ;-}>

You don't want Sevin on your food plants. Try BT (Bacillus Thuringiensis). Or poke them with something sharp if you don't have any chickens-g-. I heard somewhere (this thread?) that they show up real well under ultraviolet light.

RE: Tomato Horn Worms

Are these the cute little light green catapiller looking worms with black dots ringed in red on their sides with what looks like a tiny rhino horn at the head of the little critter?

I'd like to know where they come from, too. Also, why it seems I find them most at the tops of the plants.

Seems they like green peppers, also. I found two large ones had dined on one of the plants I have. Opened up the plant big time. At least I can count the fruit now.

Yes, my peppers are finally setting. I'm shaking them after watering, also (thanks Jack!).

My local Savon Drugstore has seeds on sale
for 10 packages for $ 1.00. Packs are marked
packed for 1998 or packed for 1997. Beats paying
the $ 1.50 new seeds seem to be selling for.

Don't know how widespread this sale is, but if
you have a Savon near, worth taking a look.
