Jack,

I believe index funds already provide just such a vehicle. They also provide diversification of risk... a good idea for someone who can only afford a few shares.

As an investor with a significant number of shares, I don't believe that the small-time investor that would buy one or two shares at a time has anything to offer to the rest of the shareholders in terms of helping the company to grow. I hate to sound like an elitist, but I don't think that the company stands to gain from this sort of thing. Imagine how expensive it would be to mail annual reports to many people who only owned 5-10 shares.

It simply isn't something that the company should be wasting resources on right now.
