Question concerning Yahoo...I am not going to question too much of this stock, it is simply too wild to understand. I do wish I bought some a month ago though. The question I would like opinions on is... do you buy a stock like Yahoo! for long-term growth? I bought Wired magazine and it believes that Yahoo! is one of the next blue-chips. Is this the type of stock you can put in a SDRSP and leave it be. Or is it one you have to watch every day and better have in a cash account to dump if need be? Instead of just talking about when this should be shorted, I am wondering if this can be considered a buy and hold. In Time, it said that $10,000 bought at IPO in 1996 would be worth 1.68 million now. Are we going to say this again in 2 more years or are we going to say, "Where is Yahoo! now?" I think the whole debate comes down to the basic principle of what you think the Internet is going to become and whether we will even use a search engine on the future Internet (will it be called Internet II)?

Personally, even though there has been money to be made in Internet Stocks, I think this huge rush for everyone to get in on a piece of the action is strictly for active/more experienced investors. I was laughing when I have read comments from Brokers saying that they are getting calls just to put some money on any internet stock without even knowing what they are putting their money on. Is Yahoo! a victim of investors just saying, it's the biggest, put my money here, I don't care what they do. If so, can Yahoo! provide satisfaction for the millions for years and years? Wow, I guess I did end up questioning a lot about this stock. I just find Yahoo! to be one of the most interesting studies in a Stock and the reasoning behind it's chart movement.

>>I believe the current run-up...has nothing to do with the stock price discounting YHOO's future prospects

Then you don't get it yet.
