Don't forget that CPQ-DEC was one of the weirdest acquisitions in history. As a former DECie and a programmer and a serious investor, I still find the whole transaction very hard to believe.

A LU acquisition of a major networker has intrinsic sense to it. CPQ acquiring DEC was a stretch.

So the chances of the market viewing a LU acquisition positively -- even a large acquisition -- are not guaranteed, but are much better.

Regards

<<Or would a split announcement in July, with a runup to the Oct. 1
lifting on pooling of interest moratoriam actually give LU more
market capitalization to work with?>>

JP: This would be my pick of most likely scenario. Lu's stated objective prior to the last split was to increase distribution. I think the same logic would still hold and a post-split runnup would be likely. JMO. This stock is on fire and has only just shifted into second gear. People still holding this stock ten years from now will be stunned with their profits, IMO. ...Tim
