N.J. husband-wife investment team acquires 5.25% stake in Musicland;
They may be willing to try to help struggling retail chain

A A A A husband-and-wife investment team has acquired a 5.25 percent stake in Music land Stores Corp. and may seek to assist the struggling retail chain.

Alfred and Annie Teo of Kinnelon, N.J., bought 1.8 million common shares on the open market, a Securities and Exchange Commission filing showed. They paid 75 cents to $ 1.62 a share - and a total of $ 1.99 million - to invest in Minnetonka-based Musicland, which operates about 1,466 stores under the names On Cue, Media Play, Sam Goody and Musicland.

Alfred Teo, chairman of a $ 600 million plastics business, said in an interview that he would be willing to make a direct investment in Musicland or help find investors.

Teo, who says he resuscitated banks when many shunned the industry, said Musicland presents a similar opportunity. He disagrees with the popular notion that the company can't compete with mass merchandisers such as Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

"There is a certain expertise in merchandising music that Wal-Mart and Kmart don't have," Teo said.

Marcia Appel, Musicland's senior vice president of corporate advertising and marketing, said the Teos bought shares as an investment rather than as an attempt to seek control of the company. She said the company is glad to have the Teos as shareholders, adding that Musicland is negotiating to raise money from a different investor.

Musicland's stock closed unchanged Friday at $ 1.12 1/2 a share.

Neither Teo works in the music industry. Alfred Teo is chairman of at least seven interconnected plastics companies spread between Lyndhurst, N.J., and Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. Annie Teo, who couldn't be reached for comment, is listed in the filing as a homemaker, interior decorator and building manager.

RJSC

R.J.Steichan & Co.

IMO --seems to specialize taking heavy short positions in
certain low priced stocks maybe to drive the price lower.

Three of top volume stocks they trade---MEDJ, CODY, DBII
all with the same chart patterns and price range.

I would guess they have a heavy short position and are
attempting to protect it. They may be in big trouble on
this one since some major market makers are accumulating.

MJKI did a lot of selling at 6 3/4 Thursday stopping that rally.
