In a joint statement, the companies said they would hold a news conference Monday to explain details of a Motorola-AMD alliance "to cross-license and co-develop technology." The conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. PDT (1 p.m. EDT/1700 GMT). Jerry Sanders, chairman and chief executive of AMD, and Hector Ruiz, president of Motorola's semiconductor products sector, will both attend the conference, the companies said. AMD, based in Sunnyvale, California, provides semiconductors to the telecommunications and computer industries.
