Of a Friend: i would expect for starters to welcome him into this good little family, what is earned then by either person, -after all agreed upon expenses are paid, (...hard enough!...oh gosh!)......well, -the remaining might be split down the middle and then after a short time compared, asking "who has what...and why"! he may then most immediately appreciate the penny pincher in you! Annies folks did that. And then they used to -"each" have a little spiral notebook they carried around on themselves at all times "just as important" as their wallet or purse. They each wrote down what they spent each dollar on and "used it" to answer the questions above "without arguement" it was all there! The answers to their financial goals became obvious quickly! But the purpose of it was to keep material things and the demands of society away from the love they shared. Love was the thing they most valued in this life. In this way they protected it and avoided arguments that should have nothing to do with their true love. the importance of their words could then "at least" be worn out just by the matters they cared about most, those matters about their love for eachother in the family. Once they figured it all out, the appreciated habit remained with little inconvenience and continued to help them out in many ways until her fathers death. Annie's mother continues to do it alone now and can quickly tell you why. Not bad for a couple brought up on a simple farming life!
