With respect to the FP article on the weekend, I read this as a potentially bad thing for MPV. The last part of the article focuses on DeBeers intent to try and buy out BHP's interest in the Ekati mine. If this were to happen, MPV would certainly be put on the back burner as DeBeers would want to tighten it's grip on supply in a weak diamond market. I believe MPV is being fast tracked right now more as a bargaining tool to lever BHP in to selling, ie: if you don't sell to us we'll bring our own mine on stream and kick your butt (pure speculation on my behalf).

Maybe I'm missing something but it seemed like the article presented DeBeers as more concerned about the present, which may mean MPV is already on the backburner. I really hope I'm wrong (and so does my pocket book). Does anybody see how buying BHP out of Ekati could be a good thing for MPV?
