Well. I utilize the revolution of the internet for instant access to Edgar filings, historical quotes, fundamental information on stocks, important news on stocks that will move the price. After that I go to my software programs download data and filter and scan the stock list that I compiled. It's a process that takes anywhere from 1 1/2 to 2 hours a night, sometimes I can get by with 1 hour but that is rare. Then I compare that with the way my parents did it before me. Calling an AG Edwards or comparable broker and having them send a prospectus through snail mail, then reading, analyzing, and usually getting on board about 3-4 weeks later and I realize the potential and efficacy of the internet. Added to that the boon of instant execution and good watch lists and I think we've come a long way in the last few years. Companies like Reuters, Bloomberg, Newsalerts etc. making the transition to instant worldwide news is fantastic. Now I'm connected with a cable modem and can download data, reports, .pdf files in seconds. The magic formula to instant riches: I don't think anyone will ever find the holy grail but I do think that the 'research' and 'execution' that is now streamlined and instantaneous paves the way for traders to make more informed decisions. The next step, who knows? But it can't take the place of instantly locating, and analyzing companies with solid growth prospects going forward, finding companies among the 9,000 that are in the top 2% of the entire stock database, both fundamentally and technically strong, in just the time it takes to watch the nightly news. What better is there?
