Charred -- Thanks for your words of welcome. I think Carson's transmission of the $23-a-share fantasy was just that -- a transmission, and was not strictly the product of a vivid imagination. Were it to be purely a work of fiction, a reasonable person would believe Crystallex would have issued a strongly worded statement to the effect that no such offer exists, refuting the item carried in the widely read VENews (Roy claims thousands upon thousands of "hits" daily on his website). Instead, Marc Oppenheimer himself was full of praise for Roy's reporting at the AGM, although he also took pains to distance KRY from the colourful Caracas-based journalist. In reading Roy's July 17, 1997 item on the $23 offer, we have him describing chairman Fung's state of mind (upset) and angrily refusing any and all further talks with Placer Dome. And far from issuing a denial, Crystallex gave it tacit approval through its silence. It is also noteworthy that Carson has impressive access to both the upper reaches of KRY management and the Venezuelan government. Therefore, we have to accept Carson's $23 offer story as having substance. ------------ I see my old friend Avalon followed me -- the CSW heretic in the Church of Crystallex -- over to Silicon Investor. Avalon is a funny fellow who is forever telling forum participants to ignore me, but he doesn't follow his own advice. Speaking of advice, Avalon has posted 3,400 times at Stockhouse and having read most of them, it is clear his main job there (as here) is to expel the non-believers. This is done not by arguing points of fact but by screeching and hollering personal abuse and nonsense. Avalon calls my comments about Carson "bashing," but I fail to see how shining light on this key tout's past statements is bashing. If Carson's material was produced to the best of his ability, and was the result of years of experience as a "foreign correspondent," I'd have thought he'd be happy to defend his body of work. Carson is not happy to defend his work and will not do so. Avalon's history is also quite interesting. He posted in July 1997 that he was sticking with the Stockhouse forum in order to keep the small investor keen on Crystallex and involved in the forum. I've asked him if he thought his work in this regard was successful, and whether he still views his current contributions as keeping small investors happy, informed and on board. Thoughts, Av?
