Fundamentals determine the direction of the trend and whether the trend with be sustained, momentum only accentuates the trend. Trailing PE's have squat to do with fundamentals, the market is forward looking and does not look back. The market is an efficient pricing engine. Charts are fine for trading, and not particularly valuable for investing. Revisit the DELL scenario ... did Chuz's investing strategy or your trading strategy yield higher profits over the time interval of discussion so far? The real issue is ... could the trading capital from DELL proceeds be redeployed into a better yielding trading vehicle.
