OT- Chuzz, all my stock money is in IRA's, so the gain on TLAB
is deferred. In fact I have a good problem- too much money
in IRA's. I may need to tap some of it for a penalty to
get my summer home from the DELL profits. I may just tap
the ira to make the payments on the mortgage so I get the tax deduction. Any ideas???

Stock options- I am confused by the a GAAP treatment of them.
They make sense, give employees motivation, but GAAP has
changed the accouting over the years to the point where I do not
give a damn!

<The major negative I see with AOL is the low barrier to entry problem>

Low barrier to entry may be more true for "portals" (YHOO,LCOS,SEEK etc) although even here clear leaders are beginning to emerge.

As for "content providers" it looks like AOL is the proverbial 800lb gorilla. As you remember in the beginning we had Prodigy, Compuserve, then AOL, MSN, and finally WOW (remember WOW?). Only AOL stands tall here.

The question now is whether "content" is necessary anymore. YHOO has its own chat rooms, instant messaging, server e-mail, "goodies" formerly in the domain of "providers".

So Low barrier to entry? Try telling that to Compuserve. Or even to MSN which finally has conceded the difficulty of unseating Steven Case!!

Happy investing.
