If you want a simple technique to ferret out some worthwhile issues, use IBD and quickly scan for EPS >90 and RS >90 for issues that have options. This will give you a starting point from which to then do some in-depth analysis. Also look at the list of high volume issues and the graphs. All of these tools point to issues that are on the rise.

A good place to start for sound stks is Gene Walden's "The 100 Best Stocks To Own in America," Investors Business Daily, and Wall Street City "Best Searches." I'll have to give Motley Fool a look. Sounds interesting.
