It was 1969 in Woodstock, New York. That brings back memories. I graduated from high school in 1969 and lived only 150 miles from the festival site, but unfortunately I did not attend. The Woodstock festival was actually held on Max Yasgur's farm in Bethel, NY (near Monticello). I know the organizers had difficulty finding a site in a town that would allow them to hold the concert. I don't think it was ever planned for Woodstock, NY an artistic community in upstate NY. I have often regretted not going to Woodstock.
