As a broker who believes in the value I provide, I will say this. The most important factor is the broker not the wirehouse itself. A competent broker can discern between the fluff on the reports and the meat. He would also have contacts at other firms to access their research. I have worked at 4 firms(mostly due to acquisitions) and I do feel that pru research analysts generally are excellent. They are not pressured to follow every company and therefor just follow the ones they feel they have a good chance of being right. They also are not fearful of going against the grain or admitting they are wrong( that depends on the analyst of course) They follow most of the companies you mentioned
