Geoff -
Yea, maybe that was a little too upbeat... I did a calculation on where I would be today if I had taken Jim Kelley's advice and sold CPQ in fall of 97 (at say 38 or 39) and put it into Dell (at say 38 or 39) - all split adjusted. Let's see - the CPQ is down about 10% from that point, the Dell is up about 300%. I may not be too good at math but I think I can get through that analysis.

That's not the only time I did something dumb. I sold 500 shares of Dell in summer of 95 to buy a car. I think that would be 4000 shares today. I haven't done the calculation because I don't want to know what that car really cost, but my gut tells me I could get a pretty nice car for $500K...

As Jack Benny used to say to the robber in response to 'your money or your life!' -

how long do I get to think about it?

BTW still long on CPQ... GOOOOO CPQ!!!
