Hi Avalon, I'm not familiar with you since I don't follow any other KRY forums, but you seem like a reasonable guy. I also don't know Jerry, except for what he's posted here. It does appear, as you stated, that his primary purpose is to "get Carson" for whatever reason. I don't know the history, so I won't comment on that. The question of the moment seems to be, "Was KRY promoted and was there an offer for $23?". I doubt there can ever be an unequivocal answer to that question, but it is possible to make an educated guess, based on circumstantial evidence. Since this has not reached a court of law (yet), I think it is reasonable to form an opinion based on what we know. Did KRY promote itself? Many have pointed to the company's news releases as evidence that it did not. I would agree, that if you define self-promotion as the content of news releases, the answer is no. I see no evidence of self-promotion by that definition. But, IMO, there was promotion from other sources, so the question is, "Did KRY promote itself through others?". I don't think, at this point, it is possible for us to answer that question. On the other hand, if you ask the question, "Was KRY promoted?", I think there is no doubt the answer is yes. Who were the promoters? Well, I hope you would agree that Carson was numero uno. If you can read this vheadline.com and not believe he was hyping, please explain why. From the first time I read his "newsletter" I filtered everything he said through a wall of skepticism. I could never believe that anyone took him seriously. There were red flags (literally!) all over his work. The lack of balance in his "reporting", the exaggerated publication style, the "inside info" feel, etc., etc. In fact, he was so obvious that, at times, I wondered if he was sincere! I reasoned that if he were trying to convince his readership, he would be more subtle. The other major arm of the promotion was right here at SI, on SH, and other internet forums. The problem here is trying to separate the pro-hypers from the con-hypers from real people like you and me <g>. That, I have concluded, is near impossible, due to the anonymous nature of this medium. All you've got is text, no body language, no voice inflection - very, very tough. In real human contact, most of the communication is non-verbal, and that's totally missing here. You have to use a lot of imagination to sort out the meaning in people's posts. No wonder there's so much conflict and misunderstanding. Anyway, enough rambling. Over to you.
