<<The U.S. government will buy $250 million worth of
surplus wheat and donate it to hungry countries>>

Make sure you deduct extra $2.50 for "charitable donations (involuntary)" in your 1040, Schedule A this year. -g-

Mike, You just rubbed salt in one of my old wounds. I was short wheat in 1972 when Tricky Dick and Earl Butzhead essentially gave it away to the Russkies and loaned them the money to buy it at 2 pct. interest. 3 limit days up before I could cover. That was back before I had refined my risk reduction techniques. Later on, I was very happy to see Earl Butz go to prison and Tricky only escape due to a Presidential pardon. -g-

Clinton is doing everything possible to raise the price of farm goods and kiss up to the Chincoms. Farmers love it, at least those who are not patriotic. I hate it. We do two things very well in this country: grow food and produce ideas. As the old hooker once said, you can't make any money if someone is giving it away. -g-

MP, so what else is new? Most of our 'foreign aid' is comprised of things ladled out of the pork barrel. But how can you blame the pols for taking care of them that brought 'em to the dance? Or as Andre Malreaux put it: "The problem with democracy is that one gets the government one deserves."
Best regards, Merritt
