Pruguy:

Thanks for your thoughts. You are right, Schmidt isn't trying to dominate MSFT head on, but he is trying to dominate the market for the best software solutions for managing networks, internets, and intranets. I really identify with his vision, business sense, and his stable demeanor. Furthermore, he's got the brilliance and drive to make things happen without confronting MSFT head on as the old CEOs did (e.g. WordPerfect).

My reasons for owning are plenty, too. The undervalued price of the stock as I started buying during Dec97, the hot technology growth sector of networks, their cash position, strength of their installed base, and of course, most recently the credibility of Dr. Eric Schmidt. I feel NOVL has a long way to go, and that patience will continue to reward investors that averaged down or bought shares recently during the past year.

Regarding understanding the company better, try to read as many links (articles, reviews) as you have time, as they will broaden out your understanding of the landscape that Schmidt is trying to expand Novell's market presence into.

Good investing,
