Politics is something that two people will never agree on completely. I last voted Republican in 1980, mainly because I was so fed up with the Iranian Hostage situation and Carter's apparent wimpiness in dealing with them. After 12 years of Reagan and Bush, not to mention the past 35 years of watching Republican antics overall, I can say with fervency that I'll never vote Republican again. They are a pack of money-worshipping anti-constitutional legal-system abusing corporate whores. They've gutted all the Federal agencies charged with protecting the people and our national resources. They've sold us out to foreign interests. I despise them with every fiber of my being.

At least the Democrats still make some pretense of caring about people. They tried to do something about health care, for example, and the health care industry spent billions on advertising and "campaign contributions" for their Republican puppets to quash it. Now what do we have? We have doctors walking out on HMO's because they're fed up with being told they can't do the things they need to for their patients because of "cost controls" ( meaning bigger bonuses for HMO executives). We have HMO's just closing their doors and leaving all their members high and dry with no medical care. So much for the vaunted "freedom of choice" the lying swine spouted off about back in 92.

It always boils down to the same thing. No matter how much the money worshippers talk about Freedom and "getting government off our backs" and "states rights" and all the rest of that crap, what they're really saying is "let's gut the goverment so we can squeeze every last dime we can out of the people and plunder the environment and the economy." When they yap about "the rule of law", what they really mean is the rule of all their corrupt lawyers who will attack anyone they're paid to on whatever trumped up charges they can manufacture from a rich panoply of badly written and politically-motivated laws.

Look at labor relations. For years now they've conducted an unrelenting campaign to return this country to the dark ages of the 19th century, with sweat shops, 80-hour weeks, no vacations, company stores, etc. I know many people who have lost more and more of the benefits and perks that we once took for granted in the 60', 70's and early 80's. No more two-week paid vacations after a year. Health insurance that is a joke compared to what it used to be. In fact, I don't even have health insurance right now. My employer won't provide it, and I can't afford it. I broke a rib a couple months ago, and didn't even go to the doctor because I knew there was no way I could pay for it.

You can have your Republicans. The Democrats aren't perfect, but at least they still try to help people.

Off my soap box now,

John

Hi John, well, our little bored ramblings on an abandoned thread...
made someone mad, and revealed you as the "D" word.

:)

I would like to post to you and anyone bored enough themselves to read through some of my own rambling silliness--understand that I type at the speed of sound and think twice as fast usually--that I am not suffering from severe memory loss. I told the chicken story twice, that's because I erased a lot of that post and decided to post it anyway, thinking, hey, what the heck, we have nothing else to do here. But, again, I do a great, stellar chicken imitation, love chickens, and I have repeated the article on the chicken faced boy so many times...I guess it certainly was not wasted on me, and I think the person who made it up, well, we'd have a great time swapping insane ideas and stories.

John, there are other investments all going up. Get in on them, don't get greedy, and for pete's sake, never, never, never, never join in a thread on a spike with the same crowd everyday shouting about floats about out and shorts being finally squeezed and other things. Go for a company you know is going somewhere and there is proven NEWS to that fact, and the company answers the phone and answers questions that are presented to the representative paid to do that, or the owner who almost has to.

This gave us all the signs of a severe and serious burn, and it was in its 4th shell.

Use this to learn from. Seriously. I think it should be an independent web site on the net as a class study in how to be taken badly if you are stupid and not aware of how its done.

Right now I'm recyling all losses into something apparently one its way up and even looking at two dangerous little BBs that certainly seem to have somehting of an immediate future anyway.

And every single analyst interviewed on CNBC continues, daily, to repeat the same statement: MSFT if still the best and most dependable stock in the world. There is no excuse to be taken like this again. Lots of us wwere, and that's the bottom line. We stayed because we were trusting and stupid. Very dangerous, both.
