The chosen moniker "jame lee" might offer a clue. It's been a long time since this was written of course; I am late to the party again. But "Jame Lee Gumb" was the name, if I recall, of the transsexual killer who was the second string villain in "Silence of the Lambs". The first name was to have been "James" -- the book (quite good, by the way) describes "Jame" as a typo on the birth certificate that was never corrected. This was the person, you might recall, making a "woman suit" from the skins of his victims.
