McMannis - Re: "There can be bumps in the road."

Sure - and Intel has hit many of them.

But they haven's stopped Intel - merely slowed them down.

Re: "You are one of the first that says it will actually result in a windfall. Bravo for you. I hope you are right."

Well, sit back and watch. The future is about to unfold.

Jim, Re: I'm no big fan of the Y2K doomsday crowd either

How are you going to solve the Y2K problem then ?
As far as I know, almost all pre-Pentium machines
and those first and second generation(below 100MHz)
ones all have problems in the BIOS.

In post #60580, addressed to you, I was also one of the first to predict increased sales for Intel (and lots of other HW and SW companies will benefit) due to Y2K, although I didn't use a catchy word like windfall.

Re: "I'm no big fan of the Y2K doomsday crowd either."

Neither am I, but I won't get into an airplane, and will avoid even subways, buses and elevators for as long as possible after 12/31/99. Practically everything depends on computers for scheduling anymore.
