BD: Better be investing that dime & reading the dozen ...!

Did you read the Parade magazine (national sunday newspaper insert) cover story today ? -- those ''dime a dozen'' stories are starting to take hold... and guess what ! - they aren't written by a brokerage house analyst or by a chat room junkie - They are being written by the geologists, scientists and by Internationally reknowned economists !

..and if you be thinkin they is just stupid ! What's your take on numerous big Oil CEO's comments warning on the same EXACT thing, Industry insiders and say Cross Timber's CEO who put what - $179 Million in cash into ''other'' E&P company stocks ?!?!

Big Dog...keep an open mind... I'm not disagreeing on your point to the drillers only being able to make more money by higher dayrates or more rigs; my entire point is they are making enough money right NOW, to be valued much more highly than the stock market is now valuing them... and this is changing and will change in a big way - very soon.

Big Dog,
What are the total industry-wide numbers of deep water rigs and drillships under construction? I follow GLM closely and know they have two drillships coming in the year 2000. Do you have any idea what the industry's total is, and what effect do you think this building will have on deep water dayrates when they all come on line?
Thanks.

Peter

Big Doggie, I read an article in Parade Magazine today that had a picture of long lines of cars backed up at filling stations with the statement "Will we run out of gas?"
They showed a large map of the Caspian Sea area in Kazakhstan, (central Asia) that has oil and gas reserves as large as the supply of the entire Middle East oil properties.
They stated that tens of billions of dollars were at stake. Clinton and Bill Richardson (Energy Secretary) visited the area last year and Clinton sent the 82 Airborn Division to drop down in Kazakhstan in a unprecedented "showing the flag" excercise. Supposedly, several large oil companies have a stake in this venture, including Parker Drilling(PKD) Parker and their subsidiary, Mallard Drilling will be supplying the Caspian's seas first Artic class drilling barge. PKD formed a project with a Japanese National Oil Corp. drilling program. Parker formed a joint venture with Kazakh owned joint stock company, Aralnedra, to undertake the project. Along the northeast coast of the Caspian sea Parker was awarded a contract to drill a series of wells for Oryx Kazakhstan as they had worked previously for ORYX in that customers Arman Oil field.
This is a momentous undertaking for Parker and they are one of the first to make inroads into this area that will be the last of the fabously oil-rich deposits remaining in the world.
Do you have any information to add to this area?
