Early feedback from Anand's Hardware review of Savage3D..so far so good.

Look for his Savage3D review early next week...right here:

anandtech.com

"I did managed to get some testing on the S3 Savage3D board I received, so far things are looking good for a review early next week. I just thought I would keep you up to date on what's going on down here, from the looks of things the Savage3D will be the closest thing to a head-to-head Voodoo2 competitor until the Riva TNT comes out as well as a few of the other competitors. The image quality on the Savage3D is on par with a Voodoo2, a little below that of a G200 but still quite nice. Performance-wise the Savage3D has a leading edge over the G200, whether it will reach Voodoo2 performance once it ships is another question...."

Hi Crossy,

Just out of curiousity, what kind of target price are you hoping for?
I think everyone capable of 6th grade math figured out three months ago that this Q will probably come in with a loss in excess of 30 cents. Considering that the stock has already lost nearly 40% of its value in anticipation, I sort of wonder how much lower it could go. I also wonder how many people are waiting to jump in with market orders as soon as the numbers come out.

Trying to anticipate news and the markets potential reaction to it, drives me crazy sometimes. As close as I can tell S3 is about to hit the streets with a Voodoo 2 at i740 prices. Should be money in the bank next Q. I also wonder if S3 might have been participating in the recent inventory dumping that a lot of folks have been pointing the finger at INTC for. It seems to me that they would almost have to blow out older stock before going to market with the new chip.

I'm still looking to pick up a few more shares, but I'm starting to think I should be looking for a dip ahead of earnings. Tough call.

Regards,

Don
