Slide -- You actually got me laughing out loud.

I have to say that while you comment "nothing has changed" in regards to the "numbers" and the fundamentals -- I have to say that the one thing that has changed which is the cause for all these low stock prices is perception.

First -- There has not been a boom like this in the history of the oil bidness -- especially for offshore. Never have they made so much money in such a short time.

Second -- No one KNEW, but everyone predicted (myself included) that the oil companies would not slash spending so quickly in the face of lower oil prices. (There had never been such a boom before to base any judgements on.)

And what happened is that everyone and their mother was WRONG! Oil companies have and are cutting back. And it doesn't take much of an incremental cut back to have a huge impact on utilization and thus day rates. (The money they are reporting now was money made before things got to where they are today -- that's history.)

So there has been a change. A change of the highest order. All the numbers you cite don't mean a flip if the cash flow is low for the oil companies as is the case with lower oil prices.

Ps. Although I find your ramblings amusing, you might be a little nicer to folks.

Dear Mr. Slider:

(It is "Mr.", for no female poster would ever subject a thread to such bombast and hubris - and, in advance, I apologize to the female posters and lurkers of this thread for furthering this recent line of discussion. I respond to Slider and comment further on this topic only in hopes of influencing the return of the discussion to a more satisfactory basis.)

>>>Above all; it's the the lovely cards and comments (not to mention private messages) from the likes of LT, Diamond H, Mike Schiavo, Michael Happell ,BW, JBe , Greg M., William Oppenheim (what the hell kind of name is that - were you named after a damn mutual fund ?) and the Hawaii Sunrise's ... of the world that validate I'm on the track to ''makin sum money''... because if the majority of the intellectual giants on this thread agreed with me....I would be arriving ''late to the party'' and as I've all ways said; ... 'tis much better financially to be arriving early and beating the crowd to (the stock market ) party ...<<<

Slider, permit me to quote portions of the "Poster's Prayer."

"And, if I happen upon a thread of thoughtful and patient posters:

May I always endeavor to make a positive contribution, and avoid being a force of destruction, divisiveness, bitterness, or name-calling,

Grant me the courage to quickly admit my mistakes, while allowing me the pleasure of having not me, but others commending any value, helpfullness or wisdom in my posts,

Give me the patience and humility to be both student and teacher,

Allow me to be generous in my praise and encouragement of others,

Grant me the faculties and disposition to express my views clearly and convincingly, without rancor, and in a tone which acknowledges my fallibility and invites thoughtful reply,

Give me the patience and intelligence to understand the viewpoints, models, beliefs and concerns of others, and the civility to discuss and examine these viewpoints in a productive manner,

May I always have my ego and anger in check, and have the courtesy to take any uncivil disagreements away from the thread,

and, finally, May I beat the S&P 500 by 1500 basis points."

Now, Slider, allow me to draw your attention to the following thoughts:

(1) In my experience, this has been a "thread of thoughtful and patient posters," devoid of hypesters and angry discourse. A thread where, for the most part, participants strived to live by the Poster's Prayer.

(2) Oh, this thread was far from perfect. Why, there was a time back in late '97, when we tarred and feathered some evil shorters - ran those those suckers right off the thread!! Brilliant move.

(3) And we had our share of raging bulls. They did kinda have a tendency to stifle the discussion of opposing views. You know, come to think of it, maybe some of those former bulls who have been so vocal and bearish with you lately are pursuing atonement. Atonement for being so bullish and so wrong during the Great Decline. And maybe they don't want others to repeat their mistakes. And maybe, just maybe, they see you heading down that same path, possibly leading others, which proved so disastrous. Who knows? I cannot speak for them.

(4) Most, if not 100%, of thread participants would like to see higher crude oil and stock prices. That includes me and all those other nasty people you listed above.

(5) You sure use the word "newbie" alot. Guess you like it. My thoughts: no one disputes the fundamental underpinnings of the oil drillers story which you (and many before you, including me) referenced in your posts. No one would discount your contributions because you aren't a "thread oldtimer." Some might object to the sure-thing, slam-dunk tone of your posts (hint: it might be related to the financial losses they incurred in this sector). Many might object to the in-your-face style of posting you employ. However, the great majority are simply dumbfounded by your apparent total ignorance of the "Poster's Prayer." So, I thought, "Hey, maybe the guy has never seen the Prayer!!!" - So, I pasted portions of it above for you, so you would have it. I think it will help.

Good Luck!

Mike

Slider: Alright already! This ground was plowed many months ago by folks that have paid their dues to this little cabal with 6 figure losses,my self included.
We don't need a cheerleader to tell us that patient investors will be handsomely rewarded .
<" Personally I never in my life read 3 sentences on the oil business or this sector untill this
past March. I wouldn't have known a jack up from a jack off - (Hawaii Sunrise)... I
never heard of FGII, CDG,EVI or even RIG, The oil sector was EXXON or Mobil....">.
No kidding Slider, we would never have guessed! We are all glad for your enthusiasm, but why not take a small vacation from posting until you have something to contribute? Your credibility was destroyed long ago, tho in all fairness, I don't disagree with ALL that you say. No malice intended. Regards , Rich
