Fujitsu to Change Focus at U.S. Plant, Reduce Staff by 150

Fujitsu <TOKYO:6702> said that the Hillsboro, Oregon factory of
Fujitsu Computer Products of America will cease production of
magnetic tape and magnetic disk memory systems for large
computers, becoming instead a service center for computer
peripherals. The products made at the plant until now will be
consolidated in Nagano, Japan. The current staff of 420 will
fall by 150 as part of the change, which comes in response to the
boom in the computer peripherals business in the U.S.
