Before expressing your opinions such publicly,
I would recommend you to familiarize yourself
a bit with the subject. The "driver" is exactly
a piece of software that was invented to
avoid precisely the matter you are "concern"
with. The beauty of drivers is that no one
need to "rewrite" application software to
take advantage from newer faster hardware.
That is why good application software may
stay the same while people got through
DirectX v.3, v.4, v.5, and now v.6 with
3Dnow.

As you fairly correctly noted, "especially
when is KNI coming soon", you just will
have ONE new DirectX (7?) driver soon,
but later.
