Jeff
My trades are over many different stocks. I just scan charts until I find one that looks like a nice rising trend is starting and I jump on. Right now I'm watching too many stocks, but I plan to reduce the number and hopefully learn more about how individual stocks trade during the day. I never hold a stock overnight in my trading account. If I figure a stock is worth holding overnight then I will buy it in one of my other accounts.

Jeff,

If you want to start real trading in two weeks you really should be starting the paper work on opening an account right now. Much of it has to be done with surface mail.

FWIW, I recently switched my trading account from Ameritrade to Trading Direct. Did so for faster response to orders and confirmations. Not certain I got enough improvement, but I definitely got some. The internet isn't always the fastest place to do trades, but I don't want to talk to anyone when I'm trading.

I have my IRA account with Schwab. IMO, this is the best 'net brokerage on the planet. But, the commissions are just totally out of line with reality. I don't trade frequently in the IRA, so it works.
