"slow" summer months than first predicted.<<

dj, please don't post misleading notes that use the term "profitable" in any way shape or form for mu. they are not right now.

they may lose less than expected, but they are not profitable. dram is down 40% since last q's asp even after the price hikes. if this kind of "good" news keeps coming mu will go broke. ;-)

At this point prices can only go up. The question is how much can they go up before the Asians begin to increase production and force the price back down. As long as the price on 16mb dram is below $2.00 it is not even worth mentioning that prices are firming. When we see $4.00+ then we can talk about mu becoming profitable. Until then this dog is not worth $30.00. Not even close.

DJ, thank you for very informative posts. There seems to be little doubt that the tides are changing for the better for memory makers. I have been involved in similar business situations before and this one is not any different. I have been saying, for a while, to any who would listen, that without government blank checks the Koreans would have to start to do as others do: Show a profit or face the consequences. It is not an easy road and plenty will remind us that the battle is not over but the inevitable has begun.

Regards,
MT
