BARRY R WROTE: Thanks Dave - At first I didn't know who these jerks were - It took some PMs and repsonses like yours to show me who they are. I'm just curious as to why they do it. Do you have any idea? *************** Barry, They almost defy belief. I was so mystified when I first heard about them. I am not sure I even know now becuase they don't really explain their motives. One or two of them that I thought were bad guys, like Kerry, sent me a very nice, calm explanation and I promptly said thank you. No problem. The others seem to either be varying degrees of nice, then vicious, intelligent, wicked, other times egomaniacs, and at other times just hell bent on attacking anything or anyone who gets in their way. But they don't every claim to be motivated by money. They never advertise publicly what stocks they are long or short on. That's the first thing that seems odd. They seem to gather on threads and kid around (that's cool), but then all of a sudden 2-3 or more of them (I think we had 8-10 of them show up on the basher thread) go on the attack. This was so odd because I remember at least 3 times trying to make peace, suggesting that we were really on the same side....that hypesters and bashers when out of control were both bad guys. But they never wanted to talk about BASHERS and even supported Market Makers saying that they were largely all sweetness, just doing their jobs. JANICE was particularly emphatic on that. Did they see the BASHER thread as a threat of some kind? I don' t know but Marcus (one of them) was one of the first posters, then they largely all came over.. I just found it odd and got irked quite frankly. Again, my feeling is that most of the time you try to stay true to the thread topic, or you are spamming. I finally just gave up, but they kept on insulting me, almost daring me to come back. Odd. If you don't agree with them 100% they seem to get either defensive or angry and then they do personal attacks. They rarely answer questions that would help people figure out their motives. They don't seem to understand that people are naturally suspicious of those who don't seem to be mainly motivated by money on SI. Most of us spend time on threads that we have a vested interest in. They spend, as far as I can see, 100% of their time on stock threads that they do NOT have a vested interest in. ******************* I REPEAT...they seem to spend 100% of their time on stock threads that they do NOT have any claimed vested interest in ******************* Either they are lying about that or are much different than 99.9% of the rest of SI members. Gosh, I spned all day tracking my stocks, posting information, and trying to find the next good investment. People can even relate to people who are short a stock, like LUCKY on CYGS. At least he admitted that. So...to answer your question, I don't know where they are coming from. I DO know that people pretty much detest and are suspicious of people that lurk on threads when they have no vested interest.... these people do that and won't say why and what's more they claim to not understand why people get angry at them. Of course anyone who does get angry is labeled a hypester of the worst kind.
