John M, did a really good comparative analysis on the Sasol thread, but I don't think anyone has enough info on ATNY yet.

Got this respose to your question from Tom Cooley.

None of the competing synfuel processes including those of ATNY and SLHO have to use oxygen. The decision to use air, enriched air or 98-99.5% oxygen is an economical choice. However it must be remembered that the penalty for using enriched air or even air must consider the loss in yield, selectivity, larger size and therefore higher cost of major equipment due to the nitrogen diluent, and the effect upon ultimate product separation.
We understand RNTK did provide such a plant but it was abandoned almost immediately after startup. We understand that this plant cost millions and was given back to the contractor and/or RNTK who sold it for around $300,000. We understand the new owner relocated the plant and converted it to a different purpose than the RNTK design.

Iron catalyst is not believed to be competitive for modern Fischer Tropsch reactions as compared to promoted cobalt catalysts. The ATNY cobalt catalyst is very proprietary and contains special promoters to achieve chain limiting capability with high yield.
