Bachman,
here is an article about that China connection:

Dell Company Breaks into Chinese Market

SHANGHAI (July 20) XINHUA - Dell Computer, one of the leading
computer manufacturers in the United States, recently displayed its
new computer line in Shanghai.

Dell ranks fourth in the world in terms of computer sales. The
company's recent exhibit featured computer systems for small- to
medium-sized enterprises.

Dell sources reported that an assembling facility funded by Dell
recently opened in Xiamen, a port city of east China's Fujian
Province.

Technicians at the center will supply computer products produced
in the third quarter of this year. The facility will produce storage
subsystems, backup tape systems, management software, and
upgradable disk subsystems.

The company's product line includes notebook and desktop
computers, net servers and work stations which can be used for the
management of production, marketing, financing, and human
resources.

Dell recorded a 1997 turnover of 13.6 billion U.S. dollars. Enditem
