RE: gross metal values
This is taken from the book "Mining Oil & Gas Explained"

Gross Value a Fallacy

"...one of the most common errors made by the casual reader of mining news is to make a simple calculation from a reported percentage of metal by multiplying it by the current market price, and referring to the product as gross value."

"...This is fallacious, and in some cases it can be dangerous...will likely (for Cu) amount to little more than half that."

"Hence, the so-called "gross" value is seen to have little meaning, and when the reader comes across bald statements using this term without severe qualification, he should be cautious, if not downright suspicious."

The bold is from the book.

The moral of the story is beware shit-shooting minemen who just do not know what they are talking about!
